Obagi products are designed to help address skin concerns from premature skin aging, skin damage, hyperpigmentation, acne and sun damage. A leader in skin care for over thirty years, these prescription-strength formulations are only available through skin care and medical professionals like physicians and medical spas.

Blue Like Neon has worked with Obagi over a number of years. Our initial work included building a digital playbook allowing sales reps to share materials, quickly and easily, during physician meetings. It was in analyzing that market that we saw an incredible opportunity to produce a loyalty application.

Loyalty Rewarded on the Spot

Obagi engaged Blue Like Neon, in partnership with MedAccess, to design and develop Obagi Premier Points℠ for iOS. Premier Points is an exclusive opportunity for users to earn points towards free products when they purchase participating Obagi products from their physician.

Doctors’ offices inform customers that purchasing Obagi products can earn them redeemable points and staff in that office—technically savvy or not—can easily download the app and start scanning products. To facilitate that sense of ease and reliability, a slick UI makes the process seamless and simple.

Scalable for Success

The data bears our assumptions out. Impressive increases in the first month alone like an overall audience increase, month over month, of 259%, a 226% increase in sessions, meaning people are using it multiple times, and an increase in screen views by 199% screen views all signal a successful, easy-to-use and growing, app. The app is built to handle tens of thousands of users on a daily basis so as the program grows and Obagi brings on more users, the app will scale easily.

After a successful iOS launch, Blue Like Neon was commissioned to produce an Android version. With the follow up launch of the Android app, all signs continue to point to this being a great success for our team, and for Obagi.
